What have you learned about developing evidence?

Refining your research question

When myself and a colleague were at the initial stages of planning a research project, we originally had some big aspirations. Once we’d received some support from an academic via TCT we realised that we needed to be more realistic in what we could achieve in a short space of time. This included refining our research question so that it was more meaningful to our area of interest.

Refining our research question also helped to frame where we needed to start and the small steps that could follow on. Since then we have shared our research question and project idea with staff at an inset day and gathered ideas on how best to move forward from staff. Having a clear question to start not only focused our day with staff but also how we plan to measure and report on results.
