Initial Teacher Training

Teachers have a crucial role in supporting children and young people's communication. The Trust is working in partnership with Teacher Training colleges to support people who are training to be teachers - raising their awareness, knowledge and skills in relation to speech, language and communication needs.

We have developed training and resources that support trainees and highlight the importance of communication at school, provide information about speech, language and communication needs and help to highlight the role of teachers.Lets Talk About It

The Trust has developed a booklet Let's Talk About It, and a suite of materials including information sheets, learning activities and powerpoints, to support providers to embed speech, language and communication, and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) into their courses.

To download or order a copy of Let's Talk About It please click here.

If you're interested in accessing the suite of materials, then please contact Kelly Bracken at kbracken@thecommunicationtrust.org.uk or on 0207 843 2530.

The Trust has a commitment to supporting Initial Teacher Training, which is shown through our 2013-2017 strategy. If you're interested in helping us to shape our future work in this area, please contact Kelly at the email address above.
